James Rodgers has an explosive skill set, but size and durability will make him a late-round pick.
I’ve confirmed that 18 NFL teams attended Oregon State’s Pro Day on Friday, March 16th. The following teams were in Corvallis: Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.
The Beavers don’t have any high round prospects eligible for this April’s draft, but playmaker James Rodgers and free safety Brandon Hardin will receive mid-to-late round consideration.
At 5-7, 184 pounds, Rodgers wasn’t impressive at the Scouting Combine, as he ran a disappointing 4.67 in the 40. But, he did display his explosiveness and strength by completing 19 reps in the bench press and generating a 37-inch vertical and a 9-foot-7-inch broad jump.
It’s being reported that Rodgers redeemed himself at Oregon State’s Pro Day by running a 4.49 in the 40.
As for the 6-3, 220-pound Hardin; he wasn’t invited to the Scouting Combine, but reportedly he had an impressive day on Friday. Scouts were impressed with his size and some scouts timed him as low as 4.39 in the 40. Hardin also impressed in the bench press by completing 24 reps.
