Luke Kuechly has solidified his position as a top 15 draft pick in next month's draft.
I’ve confirmed that 27 NFL teams attended Boston College’s Pro Day on Wednesday, March 21st. The five teams not represented on Wednesday were the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.
The top prospect for the Eagles is 6-foot-3, 242-pound inside linebacker Luke Kuechly. Kuechly, who is currently rated 13th overall on my Big Board, and is projected to be a top 15 pick in next month’s NFL Draft. Kuechly had a standout showing at the Scouting Combine last month and ran a 4.58 in the 40, posted 27 reps on the bench and generated a 38-inch vertical and 10’3” broad jump.
On Wednesday, Kuechly went through position drills, which were directed by Philadelphia Eagles linebackers coach Mike Caldwell, and his performance received rave reviews from NFL personnel.
It’s ironic that Caldwell would direct Kuechly’s workout, considering the Eagles are one of a handful of teams rumored to be the favorites to land Kuechly during next month’s NFL Draft. However, since January, I’ve stated that Kuechly would likely be gone prior to the 15th overall pick, and have had him going to the Seattle Seahawks (12th overall) in my mock drafts during that time.
In addition to Kuechly, the only other Boston College player who will likely hear his name called during the draft is cornerback Donnie Fletcher. The 6-0, 201-pound Fletcher participated in the Senior Bowl and had an average week. He’s projected to be a 5th – 6th round selection.
